John Honerkamp, affectionately known as Coach John, has coached runners of all ages and abilities for more than 20 years. He was a member and manager of the New York Athletic Club (NYAC) running team, created the New York Road Runners’ Virtual Trainer and group training programs, and founded The Run Collective to raise awareness and teach runners how to stay safe while running outside. Also known in the New York running community as the "marathon whisperer," John has coached more than 30,000 runners for the TCS New York City Marathon and other races worldwide,
He received his bachelor’s degree and MBA from St. John’s University, where he built his reputation as an elite collegiate athlete and later as a dedicated running coach.
